Key CR Environmental, Inc. personnel for ecological/wetlands and permitting
services include: Charlotte Cogswell, Catherine Pedevillano, Kenneth Thomson,
Christopher Wright, and Christopher Dunbar. Ms. Cogswell, Mr. Thomson, and Ms.
Pedevillano, have extensive wetland delineation, environmental permitting and
habitat restoration experience. Mr. Thomson has logged over 100 miles for
utility line corridor surveys using DGPS and he and Mr. Wright are CR's GIS
specialists. Ms. Pedevillano, a wildlife biologist, formerly at U.S. FWS acting
as a liaison with the NED-ACOE, is chiefly responsible for wildlife habitat
characterizations. Ms. Cogswell and Ms. Pedevillano have experience working with
the Massachusetts Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program regarding
state-listed rare species and conservation permits. Mr. Wright is expert in
freshwater invertebrate bioassessment, lake ecology; and Mr. Dunbar in
fisheries, invertebrate assessment, and water and sediment sampling for site
characterization. Ms. Cogswell and Mr. Wright are the key personnel for
ecological risk assessment under the MCP, CERCLA and RCRA.

school in Rutland, MA (2003-present, LPA prime).
Malden River Wetland Creation, Wellington Business Center, MA - Wet meadow creation on the Malden River and monitoring for regulatory compliance (1999-00, CR prime).
Fresh Pond Reservation, Cambridge, MA - Conducted wetland delineation for the NE Sector restoration project and tasked to assist in the preparation and receipt of permits for invasives removal and habitat restoration including a wet meadow creation for stormwater renovation (2001 - 2003, CRJA prime).
TeleCom City, Malden, Medford & Everett, MA for Preotle Lane - Multi-phased proposed brownfields office park and riparian greenway development along the Malden River. For Phase I in Medford responsible for wetlands functions and value assessment, wetland impact assessment, ACOE/state permitting assistance and mitigation design oversight that includes the removal of the Phragmites (2001 - present, CRJA prime).
Remediated Swamp Restoration, Braintree, MA - Approximately 5,000 sq ft of swamp restoration following site remediation by IT Corporation. Planted site with shrubs and saplings in the summer of 2001. Monitoring of water levels and vegetation fall 2001 & 2002, and receipt of Certificate of Compliance (2001 - 2002, CR prime).

Nyanza Superfund Site Wetland Restoration and Monitoring, Ashland, MA - Prepared restoration plans, oversaw construction crew for planting approximately 8 acres of remediated wetland in the watershed of the Sudbury River. Prepared the wetland monitoring plan and conducted the first year monitoring and reporting for the NEACE (1999-2001, S&W prime).
Concrete Pipe Wetland Restoration, Dedham, MA - Prepared restoration plan and oversaw regrading, planting and monitoring of a 2 acre swamp filled with concrete waste, rubble and rebar adjacent to Little Wigwam Brook in Dedham (GZA GeoEnvironmental, CR prime).
Mercury Study - Quabbin and Wachusett Reservoirs, MA - Part of a GZA project team conducting a study of the Quabbin and Wachusett Reservoirs triggered by the elevated levels of mercury detected in larger fish. Provided advice concerning the parameters to sample at various sediment sample locations. Gathered data on reservoir fisheries and the levels of mercury in their tissue. Helped coordinate and reviewed an assessment of the potential risk to ecological communities in the Quabbin and Wachusett Reservoirs due to mercury, and other metals and organic compounds of concern (1995, GZA prime).
Lockheed Martin Facilities, Wilmington and Burlington, Massachusetts - Wetland delineation, permit preparation, and habitat evaluation for two former Lockheed Martin Facilities. Conducted a stream invertebrate survey at a metal contaminated site to evaluate the potential effect of sediment contaminant levels on the stream community at the Burlington site (1998, EMCON prime).
Electric Boat Facilities, Connecticut - Part of a team evaluating sampling needs and conducting ecological risk assessments at three Electric Boat facilities in Groton, Connecticut for US EPA RCRA and CT DEP review. Sites on the Thames River, Poquonock River, Mumford Cove, and Birch Plain Creek, have metals, SVOCs and VOC contaminant issues. Discharges of contaminated groundwater are entering freshwater as well as tidal systems. Work includes evaluation of the habitats and species of concern, sediment, surface water and sampling of biota to look at contaminant concentrations, as well as, toxicity testing (1995-present, CR prime).
Plainville Landfill, MA for Allied Waste System - Fish, water, sediment and benthic invertebrate sampling in Lake Mirimichi, and functional and impact assessment of wetlands communities in the vicinity of a VOC-laden groundwater plume for an ecological risk assessment (2001, Cambridge Environmental prime).
Ecological Assessment of Harbor, Estuary & Salt Marsh, Salem Harbor & Forest River, Salem, Massachusetts - In support of the EIR and Stage II Ecological Risk Characterization (Massachusetts MCP) for this former CERCLA-listed site, CR is currently conducting a detailed investigation of the environmental resources in the marine and estuarine habitats adjacent to a former lead mill. The investigation includes: bathymetry; wetland delineations; benthic macroinvertebrate, shellfish and fishery bioassessments of the estuary and salt marsh adjacent to the former facility; and a quantitative assessment of wetland characteristics relative to a nearby unimpacted reference site (2002-present, Woodard Curran prime).
Ecological Risk Characterization, Acushnet River Estuary, New Bedford
Harbor Superfund Site, MA. Conducted an environmental study for the New
England Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to investigate the
potential effects of PCB and heavy metal pollution on the inner harbor salt
marsh ecosystem. Work involved assessment of the condition of the salt marsh,
including written and video documentation. Salt marsh plants, invertebrates,
small mammals and waterfowl were collected and analyzed for PCBs to
investigate contaminant levels in the salt marsh biota and their transfer
through the food chain. Recommendations were made regarding remedial
alternatives proposed by NUS.
Ecological Risk Characterization, Ipswich River Wetlands, Wilmington, Reading, North Reading, MA. Wetland assessment and ecological risk assessment to evaluate the potential effects of VOC-laden groundwater on the biota of Ipswich River wetlands. The risk assessment included a characterization of surface water hydrology, soils, vegetative cover types, habitat features, and signs of wildlife upgradient and downgradient of the contaminant source. Risk to the environment was assessed based on a comparison of the contaminant levels in various media to water quality criteria and the toxicological literature on the chemicals of concern.
