East River Bongo-Net Tows

CR Environmental supported ENSR Consulting and Engineering on a Phase 3 Power Plant sighting study on the East River in New York City.  

During the 1999/2000 winter season, CR’s 32-ft aluminum survey vessel, Cyprinodon, operated out of City Island in the Bronx. In December and January, bongo net tows and water quality measurements were performed at four locations in the East River.  Bongo net tows were performed using Cyprinodon’s hydraulic winch and A-frame. Operations were conducted in up to three knots of current.  Tracklines were recorded and electronic charts printed using the Maptech Navigation Program. 

Samples were analyzed for zooplankton and icthyoplankton.
