Catskill Reservoir Dam Survey

CR Environmental performed detailed bathymetric, magnetic, sub-bottom, and sidescan surveys for GZA GeoEnvironmental in two Catskill Reservoirs to aid in dam reconstruction activities.  At the Ashokan and Schoharie Reservoirs, bathymetric and sub-bottom surveys were conducted in the river channels and along the face of the dams to determine the accumulation of sediments. Side-scan and magnetic data were also collected to map man-made features, such as intake pipes, cofferdams and the old roads and foundations of the former towns beneath these reservoirs.

CR compiled a detailed report with bathymetric and magnetic contour maps, and sub-bottom and side-scan records.  These data will help GZA and the New York City DEP in formulating a dredging plan at the reservoirs.
