WORK HISTORY
CR Environmental, Inc., Falmouth, MA 1996 - present
Mate and navigator aboard the F/V Christopher Andrew, F/V Andrea J., and Aquamonitor during the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority (MWRA) benthic and water quality surveys for the proposed Boston Harbor and Outfall Monitoring Program. Regularly captains the MWRA’s vessels including the Cormorant for the Harbor Monitoring Program. Provided vessel and equipment support for NOAA NOS/ORCA’s mussel watch sampling efforts in Massachusetts and Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island in 1998 and 1999. Presently providing captain and navigation support for sediment sampling and oceanographic survey efforts at the New Bedford Harbor PCB cleanup site on Buzzards Bay in Massachusetts. Mr. Spinale has experience operating a number of pieces of oceanographic equipment including: CTDs, benthic grabs, mini box corers and vibro-corers. He has also worked as a diver aboard the R/V Cyprinodon on quahog assessments in Upper Narragansett Bay and the Providence River for the ACOE.

Part-time Grants Program Consultant administering financial assistance programs for which federal funds are made available to states and other non-federal interests for carrying out projects that relate to the conservation, management, and utilization of fishery resources in the Northwest Atlantic. Worked with program constituents to assist in execution of Fishing Industry Grant (FIG) and Saltonstall-Kennedy (S-K) Grant Programs and provided consultation when problems developed. Also conducted site visits to active projects and reviewed quarterly and final reports. Finally, coordinated capstone symposium where principal investigators shared results of projects in a public forum.

Owner and operator of SCUBA diving company that performs boat bottom work, search and recovery, and underwater damage survey and repair for moorings.
E3I Environmental Laboratory, Somerville, MA 1995 – 1996
As a Chemist and Project Manager, performed commercial and USEPA CLP type extractions, concentrations, and clean-up of Pesticide/PCB, ABN, PAH and PHC-IR analysis. Also produced commercial and CLP final deliverable reports for all organic analysis and maintained and oversaw work flow.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Feb. 1995
Worked as a Research Associate aboard the R/V Albatross IV in a winter ground trawl survey of Southern New England and Georges Bank, dissecting various species of groundfish to examine food habits and identify age, sex and maturity. Also collected physical and biological oceanographic data using a Niskin Bottle and a plankton bongo net.
