Ms. Pedevillano has 15 years of experience as a wildlife biologist and wetland scientist working for both government agencies and private environmental consulting firms.  Her expertise lies in wildlife habitat assessments, environmental impact report preparation, and wetland restoration. Most recently during six years at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, New England Office in Concord New Hampshire she prepared numerous reports for use by USFWS, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New England Division and National Marine Fisheries Service to aid in decision making.

 

WORK HISTORY

Part-time wildlife biologist and wetland scientist conducting wetland delineations, wildlife habitat assessments, functional assessments of wetlands, and vernal pool surveys.

 

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, New England Field Office, Concord, NH      1990 – 1996          

Fish and wildlife ecologist responsible for planning and conducting a variety of investigations to determine impacts of land and water development projects to fish and wildlife resources within wetlands and adjacent habitats. These included wildlife habitat assessments of wetlands under the jurisdiction of Section 10/404 of the Clean Water Act. Methodologies used included Habitat Evaluation Procedures (HEP), Wetland Habitat Indicators for Non-Game Species (WEThings), and professional judgement. Wildlife habitat assessment reports were prepared for use by USFWS, US EPA, US ACOE, and National marine Fisheries Service to aid in decision making. Other duties included developing and implementing wetland restoration plans, attending interagency meetings, conducting field trainings and public outreach through written and oral communication.

 

Artemis Environmental Services, Lexington, MA     1989 – 1990                                                            

Owned and operated an environmental consulting business specializing in wetland delineation and assessment, wildlife habitat survey and evaluation, wetland mitigation planning and wetland permitting. Clients included engineering firms, environmental consulting firms, and town conservation commissions.

 

Massachusetts Audubon Society, Lincoln, MA       1989 – 1990                                                                     

Taught weekly naturalist programs in winter botany, bird migration, animal adaptations and wildlife.

 

Sanford Ecological Services, Southborough, MA     1986 – 1989                                                                   

Senior scientist conducting wetlands and wildlife evaluations, and report preparation including Environmental Impact Reports, and regulatory compliance evaluations. Marketed, supervised employees, and represented clients at town meetings.

Research assistant for studies on breeding birds in riparian corridors, effectiveness of  highway underpasses for wildlife, habitat use and food habits of wild turkeys, effects of prescribed burns on wildlife and plant communities, nesting success of common terns, and nutritional and energetics research on white-tailed deer.
