Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration - Bathymetric & Sediment Surveys, Environmental Sampling
Mill Pond, Nashua River, Nashua, New Hampshire

As part of an environmental assessment lead by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, CR Environmental performed a detailed bathymetric survey, sediment surveys and sediment sampling of a large impoundment in Nashua, New Hampshire.  Acting as a sub-contractor to The Bioengineering Group, Inc., CR used DGPS and a high-frequency echosounder specifically designed for surveys in very shallow water to map the bottom of the Nashau River and Mill Pond.  We collected cores of sediment using CR's Coring Raft and a mechanical vibracoring system.  Sediment thickness was measured manually using a proven sediment probe system.

CR compiled a detailed report with CADD/GIS compatible bathymetric and sediment contour maps.  These data will help TBG and the Army Corps of Engineers to analyze the distribution of sediment, river hydrodynamics and the distribution of sediment contaminants.
