In August 2002, CR Environmental conducted a sediment vibrocoring field program in Boston Harbor for the Woods Hole Group Raynham, Massachusetts office. CR recovered 136 sediment cores using a hydraulic vibrocoring system deployed from R/V Sakonnet. The coring effort was conducted to assess sediment contamination as part of a dredge feasibility study for Boston Harbor's navigation channels. Maximum core penetration was eight feet. CR used a Trimble ProXRS DGPS and Hypack hydrographic software to navigate to proposed sample locations and to record the positions of each core. We prepared detailed maps of sample locations using ArcView GIS and delivered all data products to project engineers in GIS and CAD formats. .
